Alexei NavalnyMoscow funeralunexplained death
Thousands of mourners attended the funeral of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny in Moscow, following his still-unexplained death in an Arctic penal colony.

The funeral saw a heavy police presence and became one of the largest displays of dissent against the Kremlin, with people chanting slogans against President Vladimir Putin and the war in Ukraine. Despite the peaceful nature of the Moscow funeral, 131 people were detained across Russia while trying to honor Navalny. The cause of Navalny's death is still undetermined, with Russian authorities citing 'natural causes', although he was in good health the day before his death.
